FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is a fiscal sponsor?
A fiscal sponsor is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports smaller or emerging nonprofit projects to receive tax-deductible donations while working towards their own 501(c)(3) status. A fiscal sponsor helps process and manage donations, stay compliant with regulations, and ensure donations are tex-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Will my donation be tax deductible?
Yes, your donation is tax-deductible! Since our fiscal sponsor, Four Hearts Foundation, is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, your gift qualifies for a tax deduction to the extent allowed by law. You will receive a donation receipt from Four Hearts Foundation, which you can use for tax purposes.
Who am I donating to?
While you are supporting the Sandy Point Heritage Foundation, your donation will be processed by Four Hearts Foundation, our fiscal sponsor. They will receive the donation and ensure it is directed specifically to acquiring and preserving Sandy Point Stables.
How do I ensure my donation will go to the Sandy Point Heritage Foundation?
When you donate to our mission through the Four Hearts Foundation, the funds are restricted and designated specifically for the Sandy Point Heritage Foundation. We have a clear agreement in place with and processes in place to ensure every dollar donated goes directly towards advancing our mission. You can rest assured that your support will be used exclusively for saving Sandy Point Stables.
What happens to my donation if Sandy Point Heritage Foundation doesn't succeed on acquiring the property in October?
If we do not acquire Sandy Point at auction on October 31st, donors will be given the option to have their donations returned or held by SPHF for six (6) months while we pursue opportunities to accomplish our mission of preserving and repairing the Sandy Point Stables and creating accessible programs with the new owners. SPHF will provide donors with monthly updates during the six month interim period. At the end of this period, we will present our updated strategy to donors and provide another opportunity for funds to be returned. Please be aware that fees associated with processing transactions will not be refundable.
How do I donate?
You can donate by check, wire transfer, or online through our donation portal, managed by Four Hearts Foundation. See the section below for details. Please make sure to indicate that your donation is for the Sandy Point Heritage Foundation so that the funds are properly allocated.
